Love the historical perspective this site provides for those of us who worked for and even loved UPI. I was around for only five years (1965-70) as VT bureau manager/state news editor, and although I spent 20 years with Reuters, some of my finest experiences were with UPI. Where else could you find a news organization willing to hire a 23-year-old freshly minted university graduate and let him run a statewide news operation on his own (with ample support from BH)? I doubt this would happen today. Now I'm an aging weekly newspaper owner/editor in Central New York (www.clintoncourier.com). Great site and, as Bob Hope was wont to sing: "Thanks for the Memories." - Chuck Kershner VT/BH
